Our experiences with Hai Di Lao and Beauty in the Pot hotpot usually involve crazy long queues and an expensive bill for good quality steamboat. This makes it really difficult for Singaporeans to satisfy their steamboat cravings as and when they love to.


Frustrated, and suffering from mild steamboat withdrawal symptoms, we came out with this list of quality steamboat restaurants that can be a good substitute for Hai Di Lao and Beauty in the Pot.

Shi Li Fang is a Taiwanese Steamboat restaurant committed to delivering all natural, healthy, sustainable food. Most importantly, Shi Li Fang allows one to have quality hotpot without breaking their bank.

Most Singaporeans should probably know Astons. MANLE Hotpot is actually a brand under Astons, further emphasizing the values that Astons stood for. Good food at a reasonable price.

尚品火锅 Shang Pin Hot Pot

Shang Pin Hot Pot is said to taste as good as Hai Di Lao, but cheaper. It is also rumoured that Shang Pin hot pot is started by a former employee of Hai Di Lao, making it a really good substitute for your hot pot cravings.

What makes dining at Shang Pin hot pot even more affordable will be their set lunches at only S$18.80++, where one can choose between sliced fish, black pork, tender chicken, premium lamb and fatty beef.

Guo Fu Steamboat 国府珍锅

Guo Fu Steamboat was one of our go-to places for steamboat, back when we were working at the Central Business District (CBD) of Singapore.

With 12 years of experience in the business, Guo Fu offers one authentic premium beef and free flow Xiao Long Bao.

On top of their hot pot set meals, Guo Fu also has cooked food and herbal soup.

食间火锅-Shi Jian Hot Pot

An authentic Si Chuan Hot pot restaurant that serves a wide selection of popular dishes with its broth. Their dishes range from S$3 to S$10 each and one can get the soup for S$15.

They also provide weekday set lunches for two at S$26.90+.

Hao Lai Wu Steamboat & BBQ 好来屋火锅烧烤餐厅

Finally, a restaurant that provides both steamboat and BBQ. With over 90 dishes for one to choose from, Hao Lai Wu steamboat and BBQ serves buffet at a reasonable price where a consumer can eat all they want without having to worry about their pocket.

Hai Xian Lao offers a wide variety of fresh and quality ingredients and serves as a great hang out place for big groups over a feast of Kurobuta Pork Belly, US Wagyu Beef, and Lamb Shoulder. They also serve fresh seafood such as oysters, prawns, lobsters and even Alaska King Crabs. Also, they are open till 5am, one more option to any possible supper plan.

Shi Shang Lao 食尚捞 Steamov

Located near Chinatown, Steamov is a conveyer belt steamboat restaurant with each customers getting their own individual pot.

We first got to know about Steamov from fave, where they are selling coupons at 45% off. This means that at S$13, one can have a really good meal of steamboat, 1 canned drink and up to S$17 worth of skewers. Good deal!
