Pet grooming is a routine for many pet owners, and like many first-time pet owners, I didn’t think much about it till I had to send mine for grooming.
The truth is that grooming can be quite costly.
Coupled with inflation, it’s not surprising that the cost of pet ownership has increased too.
So, to help pet owners save some costs, I’ve compiled a list of affordable pet grooming services that cost less than $70 per trip!

Types of Pet Grooming Services
There are different types of pet grooming services – from basic trimming of nails to the most extravagant, i.e. spa.
Most pet owners would know that the services required for pets will differ based on their breed, hair length and lifestyle.
For example, a short-haired cat or dog may not require as many grooming sessions as compared to a pet that is long-haired, as the latter’s hair may tangle, while the former doesn’t.
Similarly, if your dogs go for walks often, they may not need nail trimming as their nails would likely have been filed while going on walks.

How Much Does Pet Grooming Cost in Singapore?
Typically, a dog would require grooming once every four to six weeks.
A dog that has a long fur coat would usually require more trips to the groomer than a short fur dog.
Furthermore, the size of the dog matters as more time is required to groom a dog that’s bigger in size.
Unlike dogs, cats may not require grooming as often as a simple brushing once a week can help them remove dead hair and distribute skin oils.
Previously, we estimated that the cost of dog grooming ranged from $40 to $350 per trip, while cat grooming was about $70.
As the prices differ based on various factors, we have shortlisted basic grooming services below $70 and full grooming services below $100!

How to Save Money From Pet Grooming?
Learn How to Trim Your Pet’s Nails And Clean Their Ears
Nail clipping can sound really scary at first…
Until I tried trimming my pet’s nails, I realised it’s actually not that scary.
If your pet is comfortable with you touching its paws, you might want to try trimming its nails! This can save you $10 to $15.
Furthermore, a bottle of ear cleansing solution costs about $10 to $20 and you can clean your pet’s ears yourself.
But, be extra careful!
Consult a professional or someone who has experience doing it themselves. It will be extremely useful if they can do a live demonstration on your pet as you can see how your pet reacts.
Brush, Shower & Blowdry Your Pet Yourself
Fur shedding is common among long-haired pets and regular brushing helps to untangle the kinks and knots.
Simply purchase a brush that costs less than $20 from online platforms such as Taobao, Lazada and Shopee.
Similarly, you can shower your pets at home!
Purchase the items online or directly from a groomer. A bottle of shampoo and conditioner can range anywhere from $10 to $30 each.
(note: read the reviews!)
Next, I would like to believe that most of us would have a hairdryer at home, hence this won’t incur extra costs if you already have it!
If you can do these things yourself, you can save about $15 to $50 as you don’t have to opt for packages such as basic or full grooming.
Instead, you can opt for ala carte services that you can’t do at home, such as shaving the undercoat of your pet.
Remember to use a credit card for your purchases so that you don’t miss out on cashback, miles or rewards!
