If you’re running or late – or simply feeling lazy – the first thing most of us would do is open a ride-hailing app like Grab and arrange for a ride.
But there are situations where you can’t seem to get a driver – no matter how long you wait.
Or worse.
You find that prices are so ridiculously high that it makes you question if you should just forgo ride-hailing and buy a car sua.
Especially on days when it’s pouring and it feels like the WHOLE of Singapore’s trying to get a ride (ahem surge prices suck ahem).
Your next better option?
Probably this:
Yep.
I’m aware that there are a few taxi companies out there: Premier, Prime, SMRT, TransCab… just to name a few.
But the one with the largest taxi fleet is probably Comfort CityCab with their ubiquitous blue or yellow cabs.
And since here at Seedly, we’re all about making smarter financial choices…Â how do you ensure that you’re getting the cheapest Comfort taxi ride possible?
Don’t worry, I’ve gotchu fam.
Disclaimer: we’re not sponsored by ComfortDelGro to write this article. I just found myself thinking about this when I couldn’t get a Grab ride the other day and was contemplating if I should book a Comfort taxi or not…

TL;DR: How To Save On Comfort Taxi Fares
A Comfort taxi ride – or any taxi ride in Singapore for the matter – is usually overpriced. But if you bobian (Hokkien: no choice) have to take one:
- Check if ComfortRIDE flat fares are cheaper especially if it is peak hour or there is a traffic jam
- Check if there’s a location surcharge for your pickup. If there is, consider taking public transport out of the area before hopping into a cab
- Always pay in cash to avoid the surcharge for NETs and credit card payments
- Take advantage of ComfortDelGro app promos where possible

Comfort CityCab Taxi Fares In Singapore
There are two kinds of taxi fares when it comes to taking a Comfort CityCab ride.
For those going, “Simi two kinds of fares? Only got one what…”
Well, there are two.
Comfort CityCab Taxi Metered Fare
This is the regular, metered fare which most of us are familiar with.
Flag Down Fare (First 1km or less) | Metered Fare Rates* | |
---|---|---|
Hyundai Sonata Taxi | $3.20 | $0.22 |
Hyundai i-40 Taxi | $3.70 | $0.22 |
Toyota Prius Hyundai Ioniq Kona Taxi | $3.90 | $0.22 |
Limousine Cab | $3.90 | $0.30 |
*The stipulated meter rate is charged for every:
- 400m thereafter or less (up to 10km)
- 350m thereafter or less (after 10km), or
- 45s of waiting time
This option is most recommended during non-peak hours or when traffic is smooth.
Trust me.
You DO NOT want to be sitting in a traffic jam during morning rush hour while watching the meter run.
ComfortRIDE Taxi Flat Fare
This flat fare option is the one which most Singaporeans would be unfamiliar with, even though Comfort Delgro introduced it back in 2017.
ComfortRide Fare | |
---|---|
Base Fare | $2.80 |
Distance Fare | $0.50/km |
Time Fare | $0.15/minute |
Minimum Fare | $6 |
Additional Stops* | $5 |
*For additional stops or distance travelled 5km thereafter or less
Unlike ride-hailing services which charge surge pricing, ComfortRIDE’s flat fare will not surge with demand.
Your fare is calculated purely based on the distance travelled.
This means that this option is most recommended during peak hours or when you anticipate traffic jams along your journey.
Note: ComfortRIDE only allows advanced booking of up to 30 minutes in advance
Booking A Comfort CityCab Taxi
If it’s raining or you’ve just finished a meeting and need to rush to another one, you probably wouldn’t want to stand by the sidewalk and (attempt to) flag a cab down.
The good news?
You can book a cab through a variety of ways.
How Do I Book A Comfort CityCab Taxi?
There’re a couple of ways to do so.
1) Dial-A-Cab
Regular Comfort CityCab taxi: 6552 1111
Limousine or MaxiCab: 6552 2828
2) SMS-A-Cab
Alternatively, you can “SMS-A-Cab” at 71222.
In the following formats:
SMS-A-Cab via | SMS | Example |
---|---|---|
Address | BOOK Building Name, Block Number, Street Name #Pick-up Point *Destination | BOOK Bedok Mall, 311 New Upper Changi Road #taxi stand *Tiong Bahru Market |
Postal Code | BOOK Postal Code #Pick-up Point *Destination | BOOK 467360 #taxi stand *Tiong Bahru Market |
Fastcall Pin Code | FC Fastcall Pin Code | FC 10577 |
Taxi Stand Number | BOOK Taxi Stand Number #taxi stand *Destination | BOOK I31 #taxi stand *Tiong Bahru Market |
But seriously though.
Given this day and age, it’s probably easier to just call or use the ComfortDelGro app.
3) ComfortDelGro App
Probably the easiest way out of the three.
Just key in your current location and destination, choose between ‘ComfortRIDE’ or ‘By Meter’ and you’re good to go.
“So what’s the bad news,” you ask?
Well… Convenience ALWAYS comes at a price.
What Are Comfort CityCab Taxi Booking Charges?
Comfort Regular 4-Seater Taxi | Comfort Limousine Cabs | |
---|---|---|
Booking Fee | $2.30 $3.30 (peak) | $10 |
Advanced Booking (at least 30 mins in advance) | $8 | $18 |
I’ve listed Comfort CitiCab’s peak hours earlier, but here it is again for easy reference:
- Mon to Fri (except Public Holidays) from 6am to 9:29am
- Mon to Sun (and Public Holidays) from 6pm to 11:59pm
In short?
Avoid the additional $1 peak hour charge by booking your regular Comfort taxi only between 9:30am to 5:59pm.
Comfort Taxi Surcharges
(At the risk of sounding like a really bad infomercial…)
But wait! There’s more!
Here’re a whole slew of charges which you might want to take note of as well.
Comfort Taxi Peak Hour Surcharges
Comfort CityCab Surcharge | Timings | |
---|---|---|
Peak Hour | 25% of metered fare | Mon to Fri: 6am to 9:29am Mon to Sun: 6pm to 11:59pm |
Late Night | 50% of metered fare | Mon to Sun : Midnight to 5:59am |
You read that right.
Once you stay out past midnight, you’ll have to fork out an additional 50% of the metered fare!
This means that a $20 ride would become a $30 one.
Damn. Siao. Please.
You might as well go for a late-night KTV session followed by a cheap massage or spa before trying to hail a ride or catch a 6am cab home instead.
Other Miscellaneous Surcharges
