Halloween Horror Nights 2023
Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) is an annual staple at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), and this year is Universal Studio Singapore’s (USS) 11th edition.
Each year, the event has designated scare zones spread throughout the theme park and a couple of haunted houses that you have to go through.
From 29 Sep to 4 Nov 2023, you will find five haunted houses, three scare zones, two live shows and one unique dining experience.
What Is the Theme for This Year’s Halloween Horror Nights?
This year’s central theme is “Evil is knocking”, and the most notable would be Netflix’s popular zombie apocalypse series, All of Us Are Dead.
If you haven’t seen the drama yet, it revolves around a coming-of-age story set amidst a zombie apocalypse. The series follows students’ endeavours to flee Hyosan High School and evade infection from the rampant zombie virus.
And if you’re familiar with the fairytale character Pied Piper, Grimm Encounters is a haunted house with a twisted backstory of this character.
Alongside these themes, you can find the following haunted houses and scare zones:
Haunted Houses | Backstories |
---|---|
Rebirth of the Matriarch | Innocent victims are lured into the family home for a deadly ritual to bring their Matriarch back to life |
DIYU: Descent into Hell | In Chinese mythology and religion, King Yama, or King Yan is the god of death and the ruler of Diyu (Hell). You will go through the gruesome levels of hell and face the King’s judgement |
Scare Zones | Backstories |
Dead Man’s Wharf | Beware of Madame Dragon, the infamous pirate that roams the seven seas |
The Hacker | Technology rules and feeds off the desperate souls of mankind |
The Cursed Kiramam | Visit a village cursed by the gods |
Is There a Minimum Age? Is It Safe?
There is no minimum age requirement, but due to the nature of the event, RWS does not recommend it for children under the age of 13.

Beginner’s Guide to Surviving Halloween Horror Nights
Is Halloween Horror Nights Scary?
Unless you’re really humji (English: scared in Hokkien) or absolutely detest anything horror, this is one experience you wouldn’t want to miss out on!
It’s actually fun when you meet fellow scaredy cats and scream your lungs out together. After all, this is the goal of the scare actors too.
Yours truly had been there three times (many years ago), and it was fun every time I went.
What Are the Rules, e.g. Can the Actors Touch You Etc.?
No, they are not allowed to touch you. Likewise, remember that you’re not allowed to touch them either.
What Attire Should You Wear?
I’d say nothing too fancy as it is dark. Shoes are highly recommended, though, as there might be a lot of standing.
Prepare a portable fan too. The queue for haunted houses can be at least 1 hour due to the event’s popularity, and you’ll be stuck outdoors waiting for your turn.
