Healthier SG & What It Covers
As we grow older, health is a common topic that pops up in almost every conversation.
You might be wondering how much healthcare sum you or your parents need to set aside as retirement comes closer.
The Healthier SG initiative consists of key features such as:
- Building a long-term patient-doctor relationship between you and a general practitioner, orĀ family doctor
- Developing health plans for you
- Supporting you in adjusting your lifestyles and staying up-to-date with your vaccinations
Under this programme, the government will fully subsidise the annual medical visits, health screening, and vaccinations that are deemed necessary for you.
The screenings will include common diseases such as:
- Type 2 diabetes
- Hypertension
- Hyperlipidemia
- Breast, cervical and colorectal cancers
For those who are using MediSave to treat chronic illnesses, you will no longer be required to co-pay 15 per cent of the bill in cash and can use MediSave fully for treatments. There will also be increased subsidies for common chronic disease medications at private General Practitioners.
The list of chronic illnesses is identified under the Chronic Disease Management Programme.
Besides the bills, an additional subsidy tier will be introduced to the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) for common chronic disease drugs and drug price limits.
If you’re wondering about the benefits of a CHAS Card, here’s what they can do for you:

Healthier SG & How to Enroll
Well, you don’t have to do anything except wait for an SMS from the Ministry of Health to pick your preferred clinic using the HealthHub app.
You’ll be invited to make your first consultation at no charge.
Starting in the second half of 2023, those who are aged 60 and above will join the programme, and those within the 40 to 59 age group, you will be invited to enroll in the next two years.
You can also switch doctors up to four times in the first two years of enrolment and once a year after that.
Health points will be awarded to you when you participate in physical activities and make healthier food purchases, which can then be exchanged for rewards offered by participating merchants.
This feature is already available on the Healthy 365 app, and it’s compatible with smartwatches such as Apple Watch‘s Health Kit, Fitbit, and Samsung Health.
