Lower Seletar Reservoir Kayaking

Aside from being known as the most ‘dangerous’ neighbourhood in Singapore, Yishun is home to the beautiful Lower Seletar Reservoir.

At this reservoir, you can rent a kayak at the Lower Seletar Water Sports Centre to explore the waters and enjoy the scenic views afforded there.

You may also spot wildlife like the White-Bellied Sea Eagle, Peacock bass and Collared Kingfisher which are common in the area.

However, do note you will need to rent a kayak for at least two hours from Camelot when you are there.

Daily (8am – 6pm) closed on Mon, Thur and all public holidays.

Do note that the latest you can rent a boat there is 5pm. This means you will only have one hour of activity time in the reservoir.

Double seater sit on top kayak rental: $24 for two hours ($6 per hour per pax)

Camelot is also running a two-hour-long ABC Kayaking Experience with litter picking for two pax at only $10 ($5 per pax) from 6 Aug – 31 Aug 2021.

Sembawang Park Kayaking

If you live further up North, you might want to check out the kayak rentals at Sembawang Park.

At the park, you can rent a kayak from the folks over at People’s Association who run PAssion WaVe@Sembawang.

At Sembawang Park, you can head out to the open waters in a kayak to marvel at the beauty of the diverse flora and fauna along with numerous bird species that have made the area their home.

Alternatively, if you are living in the East, you can head over to Bedok Reservoir for a leisurely kayaking session in a picturesque and serene freshwater catchment area in the eastern part of Singapore.

If you are looking for something a bit more central, you can head to the Water Sports Centre located at the Singapore Sports Hub.

There, you will be renting kayaks directly from the Singapore Sports Hub and enjoy scenic views while paddling down the Kallang basin on a kayak.

Rental prices range from $12 – $18 per pax ($6 – $9 per hour) for adults for a two-hour session and $8 – $13 per pax for children.

If you would like to rent it for the full day, you will have to pay from $26 – $39 per pax for adults and $18 – $28.50 per pax for children.

There you can rent a:

  • Single sit-on-top kayak
  • Double sit-on-top kayak
  • Single closed-top kayak
  • Double closed-top kayak

But, you will need at least have a Kayaking 1 Star Award certification to use the closed top kayaks.

West

Jurong Lake Gardens Kayaking

Now we journey to the West to explore the kayaking rental available at Jurong Lake Gardens.

There you can rent kayaks from PAssion WaVe@Jurong Lake Gardens and explore Jurong Lake: a picturesque freshwater lake and reservoir spanning 70 hectares.

If you don’t live near the West, a better option for you would be to head to MacRitchie Reservoir.
