Circles.Life

At $18 month for 50GB of data, Circles.Life’s CNY promotion is a pretty good deal.

The best thing is that this additional 30GB on its SIM-Only 20GB Plan lasts forever.

At that price, you’re pretty much getting a bang for your buck.

If you really need more data, you can opt for the 100GB Plan (with monthly data rollover) instead which would only cost you $38 (or $48 for new number) a month.

CMLink

Recently launched in 2020, China Mobile or CMLink’s $20 SIM Only Plan gives you 20GB data which can be used in Singapore, mainland China, and Hong Kong.

Besides that, you get 300 minutes of calls to mainland China and Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the USA.

So if you’re someone who’s a frequent traveller to mainland China and Hong Kong or have to make international calls, this is the plan to get.

giga!

giga! is Starhub’s response to Singtel’s GOMO.

What used to be a 25GB plan for $25 at giga! is now 45GB for the same price.

Pretty good deal, eh?

What’s unique about giga! is that you can rollover any unused data to the next month.

 GOMO

GOMO rolled out two CNY promotions that are value-for-money: a 48GB SIM Only plan for just $20, and a 68GB plan for just $30.

If you’re a heavy data user, the 48GB SIM Only plan should be sufficient, given that it comes with 400 mins of call time and 400 SMSes as well.

Along with free Caller ID!

Grid Mobile

Grid Mobile is one of the newer MVNOs and is a joint venture between Singtel and ST Telemedia.

Apart from its value-for-money 20GB plan which only costs $17.90, they are offering free 688 gridPoints (worth $6.88) this CNY, along with free registration worth $37.45.

Despite its low price, it comes with free caller ID as well.

M1

M1 is also dishing out a good deal at $19.95 for its 40GB plan, along with 1000 minutes of talk time and 1000 SMSes.

This includes free unlimited weekend data for 12 months.

If you prefer to have even more data, you can now choose to add on its 5G Booster Pack for just $5/month (U.P. $15/month) for an additional 25GB of data.

But… you still have to pay $5.35 a month for Caller ID.
MyRepublic

For their CNY promotion, MyRepublic is also offering attractive rates for two plans – Core Plan and Pro Plan.

The Core Plan costs just $17 for 50GB, 500 minutes of talk time and 500 SMSes.

As for its Pro Plan, it’ll be $24 for 70GB, 1000 minutes of talk time and 1000 SMSes.

And free caller ID!

Singtel

Singtel only offers SIM Only plans which come with a 12-month contract, so you gotta stick to it for a year.

For their CNY promotion, they are offering a huat data bundle of 88GB for $35.

It also comes with 1000 minutes of talk time and 1000 SMSes.

And… you gotta pay $5.35 for caller ID as well.

Starhub

While Starhub does offer no-contract SIM Only plans, their CNY promotion only applies to their 1-year SIM Only plan.

Get 55GB for $35, along with 1000 minutes of talk time.

This is $15 off its usual price of $50 a month!

VIVIFI

VIVIFI is one of the latest MVNO’s launched in July 2019 which uses Singtel’s mobile network infrastructure.

For their CNY promotion, they are offering their VIVIFI Share Plan at $29.90, which comes with 40GB which you can share with your family.

Just add a SIM card for $5.35 and a family member can tap onto your VIVIFI share pool.

You can also share 300 minutes of talk time and 100 SMSes.

Is a SIM Only Plan Better Than a Fixed Contract Mobile Plan?

Well… it depends.

With SIM Only plans, most come with no contract so you have absolute freedom to switch to whichever is cheapest.

Or (touch wood) if you, unfortunately, find that your current telco’s reception sucks.

Another thing to note is that most SIM Only plans will come with no handset as well.

This way you are avoiding any Early Termination Charges and being overcharged on your monthly subscription.

However, there are some telcos which do a SIM Only plan AND allow you to purchase a phone which you can pay for in monthly instalments.

Even if you decide to cancel your SIM Only plan.
