As much as I enjoy my work.

Nothing beats the joy of public holidays and having the free time to do whatever you want.

Goes without saying that the longer the break the better.

This is why you’ll be glad to know that according to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) Singapore’s public holidays list, it looks like there’ll be 11 public holidays and 6 long weekends in 2022.

Want to make full use of the holidays?

I’ve figured out a way to take just 8 days of leave to enjoy a grand total of:

35 DAYS OFF WORK!

Time to save this article to refer to when we plan for our holidays!

Wondering how to take just eight days of leave to get 35 days off work?

Here’s the secret.

New Year’s Day 2022 Singapore

So… it feels like the public holiday is kinda wasted.

HOWEVER.

In accordance with the Employment Act, if a public holiday falls on a non-working day.

You are entitled to another day off OR one extra day’s salary in lieu of the public holiday at the gross rate of pay.

For example, if you’re on a five-day workweek.

Saturday should be considered your non-working day.

For a public holiday that falls on a Saturday, you SHOULD get either a day off or salary in lieu.
