A Peek Into Temasek's Major Investments That Make up Its S$381 Billion Portfolio

Temasek is one of three investment entities in Singapore, with the two others being GIC and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

Since its formation in 1974, Temasek’s initial portfolio has grown from S$354 million to a record S$381 billion, as of 31 March 2021.

The investment company’s initial portfolio reflected Singapore’s early stages of industrialisation.

But as Singapore and Asia evolved, so has Temasek’s portfolio to reflect the evolution.

Currently, Temasek’s investments include global brand names whose products most of us would have used before, like Visa (NYSE: V) and Mastercard (NYSE: MA).

In this article, let’s look at Temasek’s major investments — 42 of them being listed companies — spanning five key sectors that investors can research further into.

As of 31 March 2021, most of Temasek’s investments were in the financial services sector, followed by telecommunications, media and technology, and transportation and industrials.
