Priced at S$999 for the Pixel 6 (128GB) and S$1,299 for the Pixel 6 Pro (128GB), the Google flagship phones featuring the Google Tensor chip has made their way onto our shores.

Google’s very own Tensor processor boasts a host of features with machine learning such as better live language translation, speech recognition and computational photography.

Compared to the Pixel 4a, Google has also stepped up its game with its multi-camera systems; 50 MP wide, 12 MP ultrawide, 48 MP telephoto camera on the Pixel 6 Pro.

We are also limited to two colour variations for each model: Stormy Black and Sorta Seafoam (Green) for the Google Pixel 6.

And Stormy Black and Cloudy White for the Google Pixel 6 Pro.

For context, the Pixel 6 line-up launched overseas in October last year, with 256GB and 512GB storage options available as well.

So if you really need more storage, your best bet is to ship one in from abroad.

For an additional S$300, here’s what the Pixel 6 Pro has to offer over the Pixel 6:

  • Slightly larger (increase in 0.3″), higher definition (Quad-HD+LTPO) display, and a higher refresh rate for a smoother experience (increase in 30Hz)
  • Additional rear 48MP telephoto camera and better selfie camera
  • Higher battery capacity
  • Additional 4GB of RAM
  • Slightly improved back glass with higher drop resistance (Just get a good phone case honestly).

Is the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro Worth it?

For S$999, the Google Pixel 6 is huge value-for-money with it being a flagship phone that can go toe to toe with the latest Samsung Galaxy S22.

So if you’re looking for a new phone this year, the Google Pixel 6 is a strong contender for flagship smartphones.

For owners of the Pixel 4a, the new Pixel 6 is definitely a worthy upgrade to consider as it hops on the 5G network with stronger battery life, wireless charging capabilities and the latest Android 12.

That said, if your phone is still serving you well, take some time to consider if you really need a new phone before making an impulse purchase decision.
