A KTV Fan's Bobian Guide to the Best Home Karaoke Systems in Singapore
Singapore’s slowly opening up amidst this COVID-19 pandemic.
We can dine out now and even have an Air Travel Bubble with Hong Kong on the way.
But sadly, if you’re looking forward to hanging out at your favourite karaoke joint with your friends for a late-night KTV sesh…
that’s gonna take a while more as karaoke lounges are considered a higher-risk setting for the transmission of COVID-19, even in Phase 3.
It’s not all bad though.
You’ve probably trimmed down on your entertainment expenditure and saved up quite a bit from not going to Teo Heng or Party World KTV every Friday night.
So much so that you could probably buy your own home karaoke system instead…
.
.
.
Eh… wait.
Why go out and sing when you can buy your own personal KTV system and install it at home?
Who knows? You might even save money in the long run.
TL;DR: What Are The Best Home Karaoke Systems in Singapore?
Most of the places listed have different options where you can add-on soundbars or customise what kind of amplifiers you’d like.
But I’m just gonna list the most affordable options available.
After all, we’re about having a great time while spending as little money as possible.

AC Ryan Home Karaoke System Package C
The Home Karaoke System Package C ($1,599) is probably the closest you’ll get to an actual KTV lounge experience in the comfort of your own home.
What I mean is, y’know those touchscreen things where you can search for songs by writing Chinese characters?
Yep, the AC Ryan KTV Player has a touchscreen which allows you to search for songs using an on-screen keyboard, hanyu pinyin or Mandarin telegraphy recognition system (aka by writing strokes with your finger).
That’s probably why it’s a little more expensive than the rest of the options listed.
For a more realistic KTV experience, you can also use the point-scoring function to either challenge yourself.
Or to challenge your family members or friends to a KTV sing-off.
BONOAK Wireless Bluetooth Karaoke Microphone
Okay, I’m cheating a bit here.
This isn’t really a full-on KTV system per se.
But the BONAOK Wireless Bluetooth Karaoke Microphone ($42 to $48, depending on model) is most pocket-friendly option available.
Especially if you’re just a casual crooner and aren’t really sure if you wanna splash out on an entire home KTV system just yet.
Just connect it to your smartphone or smart TV via Bluetooth, and sync it with any KTV or music app and you’re good to go.
MB Karaoke Solution MB KTV-888 Box + MRS100 Home Karaoke System
MB Karaoke Solution Pte Ltd has been around since 1998.
So you know that they’re serious about their karaoke solutions.
The MB KTV-888 Box + MRS100 Home Karaoke System ($799) is a simple mid-range home karaoke system which gives you everything you need to get your home KTV setup up and running asap.
Best of all?
You don’t have to pay any subscription fees to start singing.
Everything is preloaded in the MB KTV-888 Box.
Powerhouse Home Karaoke slimDUO Starter Karaoke System
Powerhouse Home Karaoke’s slimDUO Starter Karaoke System($1,699) is supposedly the world’s slimmest home karaoke system.
And that’s a good thing because you don’t want your home cluttered with too many things anyways.
But the coolest thing about Powerhouse is that as long as you purchase a Powerhouse UBOX touchscreen device from them.
You can request up to 10 songs monthly as well as dialect and romanised lyrics.
So you can brush up on your Hokkien or Cantonese and can finally sing that Korean song with confidence.
Popsical Remix
If you’re looking for a fuss-free option (read: no amplifiers, cables, and sub-woofers needed).
The Popsical Remix ($499) is an extremely portable option.
That Google Home mini look-alike thing is a palm-sized karaoke streaming device which you can easily move from room to room.
Or even bring along when you visit other Teo Heng and Cash Studio deprived friends.
However, with the Popsical, you need to pay for a separate subscription in order to access the cloud-based library of over 200,000 songs.
It’s $4.99 for 24-hour access or $10.99 for a monthly access.
Considering that you’re already paying close to $500, that subscription is a bit of a downer.
But I guess you’re paying for portability.
Teo Heng Wasuka MWM-88 Professional Mixer + Popsical Bundle
Looks like Teo Heng Trading & KTV Studio’s not taking a backseat even though they can’t operate.
Because they have started selling karaoke systems online.
The most affordable option they have is the Wasuka MWM-88 professional mixer + Popsical Bundle ($499).
Which actually makes more sense as compared to buying it directly from Popsical (although I’m not sure how the warranty, if any, works) because you get a professional mixer thrown in as well for the same price.
YouTube + Your Voice
Ah… good ol’ YouTube.
If you just stick with regular YouTube, you can pretty much find any song you’d like and just… sing-along.
It’s technically free too.
I mean, the whole point of a KTV session is to have fun and sing together right?
With YouTube, you can also easily find sing-along versions and KTV music video versions.
But if the annoying ads (because YouTube is playing two ads in a row now) are killing your KTV vibe, you can always subscribe to YouTube Premium ($11.98 a month) for ad-free access.
