Do you dread looking at the parking fees every time you exit a shopping mall?

Well, you’re not alone.

Owning a car is already expensive, coupled with skyrocketing petrol prices and Certificate of Entitlement (COE), topping up for parking really adds a burden.

Free Parking At Shopping Malls

Singapore is a cosmopolitan city surrounded by shopping malls.

We can pop by to hang out, buy groceries or simply have a meal in malls and once we hit a minimum spend, we can get free parking.

Thankfully, most of the minimum spends are between $20 and $50, and if you’re not alone, a visit to a restaurant could easily hit the amount.

Free HDB Parking

Lastly, did you know that HDB offers Free Parking Scheme (FPS) at various HDB car parks on Sundays and public holidays?

Under the HDB FPS, you can enjoy free parking from 7am to 10:30pm on Sundays and public holidays at most HDB car parks. Note that this does not apply to parking lots reserved for season parking holders.

You should look out for the orange sign plate installed on the Supplementary sign plates like this:

Source: HDB

If there is no orange sign plate, this means that free parking is not available. You can also use HDB’s Centralised Map to locate the nearest FPS car park.

FYI: These lots are marked by red or bicoloured (red-and-white) lines.
