Welcome to the world of social snowboard/ski trips organised by Singaporeans for Singaporeans!

As an avid thrill-seeker myself who loves adventure sports, it has always been hard to find buddies to snowboard/ski with, especially when you all have varying skill levels. For those completely new to skiing and snowboarding, it is even harder to know how to get started. There’s just so many things to consider such as the best ski resorts for your level, the availability of English-speaking instructors, equipment rental and so on.

Luckily for us, the snow sport scene in Singapore has grown significantly over the years to address those exact problems. So let’s find out all about these social snow sport trips and whether they are worth it!

TL;DR: Best Social Snowboard/Ski Trips for Singaporeans: Destinations, Prices, Dates & More

Social Snowboard/Ski Travel Companies

What started as friends helping friends organise snowboarding/skiing trips soon turned into a business idea. In Singapore, there are two main companies that offer such experiences, The Ride Side and SoTravel.

When you sign up for a social snowboarding/skiing trip with these companies, you’ll get the opportunity to not only do what you love, but make friends with like-minded people who have the same passion! Most of these trips include equipment rental, accommodation and ski lift passes and start from about $1,300.

Exclusive to The Ride Side, most of their trips also provide certified Singaporean instructors so you’ll have an easier time learning than you would with a foreign instructor.

What’s not included however are flight tickets, travel insurance, and other miscellaneous expenses which you will have to pay by yourself. To be sure, refer to the information below to check what’s included and what’s not!

For solo-travelers, you might also be wondering if it is cheaper to just Do-It-Yourself (DIY). Read on to find out!

Without further ado, here is an overview of all the social snow sport trips available in 2024! I’ve omitted trips that are already sold out or have just one spot left.

Are Social Snowboarding/Skiing Trips Worth the Price?

Naturally as a personal finance nerd and action sports enthusiast, I can’t help but to think, is it better to DIY or join a trip?

To find out, I tried to replicate the same itinerary as SoTravel’s 7D6N Powder Playground, Niseko trip ($1,594). Here are the results:

ComponentDIY cost
5-day equipment rental~$653 / ¥72,000

(Full package from Niseko Grand HIRAFU Ski & Snowboard rentals .Base(dot base) shop)

~$526 / ¥58,000 (No gloves, goggles)

(Snowboard, Boots, Jacket & Pants, Helmet, Bindings from Hanazono, Niseko Sports Rental)

~$699 / ¥77,000

(Snowboard, Boots, Jacket & Pants, Gloves, Helmet, Goggles from Annupuri)
5-day Niseko United All Mountain Consecutive Lift Pass~$413 / ¥45,500
Accommodation (shared)$264 for 6 nights

(My Ecolodge via Booking.com. Shared accommodation with free shuttle services to the ski resorts)
Food~$70

(Assuming $5 for both breakfast and dinner which is included in the SoTravel package.)
Transfer~$109 / ¥12,000

(Holiday Niseko Bus transfer)
Total$1,509

As you can see, the difference is a mere $85 cheaper. Considering that the price of friendship is priceless, I’d say opting for one of these trips is very worth it! You also save the trouble of organising the trip by yourself.

For those who want a Singaporean instructor, there really is no comparison to the trips that The Ride Side offers.

Afterthoughts

While all these trip packages are super value for money considering what they provide compared to doing it yourself, you still need to settle your own flight tickets and travel insurance!

To get the cheapest flight tickets, check out our ultimate travel hack guide!

As snowboarding and skiing can be considered an extreme sport especially at higher skill levels, you will want to get travel insurance to cover any mishaps.
