In July this year, Grab shortened its grace waiting time and cancellation period from five to three minutes.
And now, from 26 Sept (i.e. tomorrow), Gojek will also do the same whereby the grace period for cancellation will be reduced to four minutes.
The company will also impose a waiting fee of $3 if a driver has waited at the pick-up point for more than four minutes.
For your convenience, we’ve compiled the latest changes alongside other service providers in Singapore!

Gojek Cancellation Fee, Waiting Time & Changes
Currently, Gojek does not have a waiting time or fees, and there’s no additional waiting fee charged or incremental waiting fee added for additional blocks of time spent waiting.
Gojek users will only be charged $4 if they cancel five minutes after they found a driver, or cancel when the driver reaches the pickup location.
However, from 26 Sept 2022, Gojek riders will be charged $3 if the driver has waited at the pick-up point for more than four minutes, and and another $3 for every five additional minutes, which is capped at $9:
Grace Period (From 26 Sept 2022) | Fees Applied After Grace Period (From 26 Sept 2022) | Grace Period (Before 26 Sept 2022) | Fees Applied After Grace Period (Before 26 Sept 2022) |

The fees apply for all trips on the Gojek platform – GoCar, GoCar XL and GoCar Premium, and cannot be offset or paid for with vouchers. There are no waiting fees applicable for the GoTaxi service.
The cancellation period will also be reduced from five to four minutes. This means that if you want to cancel a ride and don’t want to pay the $4, make sure to do it within the first four minutes of booking.
Do note that this $4 will also be charged to you if the driver cancels after waiting for more than four minutes at the pickup point. That said, drivers are unable to cancel the ride earlier than this amount of time without being penalised.
Grab Cancellation Fee, Waiting Time & Changes
Since 18 July 2022, Grab users are automatically charged a waiting fee of $3 per five-minute if the driver has waited longer than three minutes.
A $4 cancellation fee will also be applied if a passenger cancels a booking that’s more than three minutes.
The change will affect all rides, except for those booked under GrabExec, Grab Exec6, GrabAssist and GrabAssist Plus.

For the uninitiated, just within the past 14 months, Grab adjusted its policies four times.
The company announced a $1 increase in base fares in May 2021, followed by a $1 processing fee for Visa Credit Card GrabPay Wallet top-ups of $400 and below starting in June 2021.
Then, on 1 July 2022, Grab no longer waives the processing fees for top-ups above $400.
But… you can rejoice because we’ve found ways to avoid paying this processing fee!

ComfortDelgro Cancellation Fee, Waiting Time & Changes
CDG Zig is a taxi app operated by ComfortDelgro and the ride-hailing service is ComfortRIDE.
ComfortRIDE booking doesn’t incur a platform fee, booking fee and admin fee, and there is no cancellation fee and grace waiting time!
The caveat here is to do your part in informing the driver that you want to cancel the ride as ComfortDelgro can still charge you a fee.
There might also be other charges that are payable on top of the ComfortRIDE fare:
- Prevailing Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) charges
- Surcharges during peak periods, late night and specific locations including the city area, Changi Airport, Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore, Seletar Airport, Gardens By The Bay and Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore Expo Centre
- Extra Passenger Surcharge
On the flip side, for advance booking, if the driver is late for more than 10 minutes late, the company will waive the prevailing advance booking fee.
This is, however, not applicable if the delay is a result of inclement weather conditions.
If you intend to carpool with someone you know, do remember to add the extra stop before booking a ride lest you will be charged $5 for an additional stop/distance travelled for 5km!

TADA Cancellation Fee, Waiting Time & Changes
TADA is one of the newer contenders in the ride-hailing business.
It applies a tiered system in its waiting time charges, and fees are only applied when the driver waits for more than five minutes at the pickup location. The same fees also apply for any additional stops during a trip.
Waiting Time | Rider is Charged | Driver Receives (Completed trips only) |
---|---|---|
< 5 mins | $0 | $0 |
5 mins 1 sec | $2.50 | $2.50 |
10 mins | $2.50 | $2.50 |
10 mins 1 sec | $5 | $5 |
15 mins 1 sec | $7.50 | $7.50 |
A $5 cancellation fee is applied if your driver has arrived at the pickup location and waited for more than five minutes.
That said, riders are given seven free cancellations in a week, but a $2.50 cancellation fee will be applied on their 8th and subsequent cancellation within the week. Drivers will be compensated $4 as long as they got cancelled after arriving at the pick-up point.
