Apple iPhone 13 Release Date Singapore

This year, Apple will be doing things a bit differently.

Last year, the company launched the iPhone 12 series in two waves.

But this time around, you can buy all the iPhone 13 series phones in one wave at launch.

If you cannot wait to get your hands on an iPhone 13 series phone, you can pre-order it from Apple on 17 September 2021, 8pm.

The phones will be officially launched in Singapore on 24 September 2021.

But, do note that each customer can only buy two iPhone 13 series phones.

Apple iPhone 13 Specs

Although the iPhone 12 mini did not sell as well as the other iPhone 12 models last year, Apple is persisting with a smaller iPhone in the lineup and launching four different iPhone 13 models this year.

Apple iPhone 13 Mini vs iPhone 13

Here are some key highlights of the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13.

Aside from the screen size and battery, there is little separating the iPhone 13 mini (5.4 inches) and the iPhone 13 (6.1 inches), as both phones have five different colour options, three different storage options, the same dual-camera setup with upgraded lowlight capabilities, Apple’s new flagship A15 Bionic chip and brighter displays.

However, like with the iPhone 12 series phones, Apple will ship iPhone 13 series phones without the charger. This means that you will only be getting the phone and a USB-C to Lightning cable included in the box.

Apple iPhone 13 Pro vs iPhone 13 Pro Max

With the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, you are getting bigger, brighter and more responsive displays with a high refresh rate, better cameras with better low-light performance, Apple ProRAW, macro photography and an additional telephoto camera.

Not to mention more storage options in comparison to the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13.

The Pro models also benefit from an extra Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) core which means that the more graphics-intensive games might perform better.

Well, what about the pricing?

iPhone 13 Pro MaxS$1,799
S$1,969
S$2,299S$2,629

You will be surprised to know that Apple has actually priced the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini lower than their iPhone 12 counterparts at launch.

You are also getting better value in terms of storage as the base model starts for the iPhone 13 models start at 128GB instead of 64GB for the iPhone 12 models.

Whereas for the Pro models, Apple has not changed the price but added a new 1TB storage option. This will make the iPhone 13 Pro Max (1TB) the most expensive Apple phone of all time, as you will have to shell out a crazy S$2,629 for the most expensive model.

If you are counting, you can actually buy two affordably priced laptops for an iPhone 12 Pro Max (1TB).

Should You Upgrade From an iPhone 12?

From what I’ve seen so far, the short answer is no.

Although the iPhone 13 series phones have upgraded chips, better displays, better battery, better cameras and better gaming performance, I don’t think that the iPhone 13 series phones are game-changers like the Samsung Galaxy Flip series phones that change how people use smartphones.

Source: Samsung

A few points.

It is unclear if the iPhone 13 lineup’s A15 chip will provide a significant enough performance upgrade as the iPhone 12’s A14 chip is already more than capable enough to perform almost any intensive task you can throw at it.

There are also not many differences when it comes to the phones’ screen size and physical design.

Apart from a few upgrades, you can view the iPhone 13 lineup as a refinement of its predecessors which are already great phones. Chances are, your experience using an iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 phone would be quite similar.

As such, most iPhone users will not see a major improvement upgrading to a phone that is just a year older.
